75 years of St. Florian Middle School, 200 years of Anton Bruckner: To mark these two anniversaries, the school held a big party last week. “The response from the approximately 1,000 visitors was very positive, and it was nice to experience the festive atmosphere,” says director Berta Denkmair in an interview with OÖN.
However, the implementation involved an immense amount of work. “The school festival kept us all busy all year,” says Denkmair. All 335 students and the 42 teachers were involved in the project. According to the headmistress, the parents also helped diligently. “My highlight was the joy with which the whole team identified with the festival.”
Motto: “Whoever says Anton must also say education”
Following the motto “If you say Anton, you have to say education,” the children explored the life of Anton Bruckner – the most famous St. Florian’s Choirboy. In addition, the present and the influence of the composer, organist and music teacher on the secondary school in the future were also depicted, says Jakob Breitwieser, the teacher responsible for the overall design.
This resulted in an exhibition, artistic performances, drawings and even a snack station. “We are extremely satisfied. We tried out a lot of things that we will continue to draw on in our lessons in the future,” says Breitwieser with conviction.
