Gustavo Petro spoke about the alleged video with a trans woman: I am heterosexual

The President of Colombia, Gustavo Petromade a post on his social networks in order to mitigate the rumors that arose from a video that went viral on social mediawhere it supposedly appears holding the hand of a trans woman.

The video would have been recorded in the historic center of the City of Panamawhere a man wearing a cap and white shirt can be seen next to a woman in a blue dress, claiming to be the Colombian president, who had traveled just that day for the investiture of his counterpart José Raúl Mulino.

Without confirming its veracity, Petro cited one of the thousands of comments that appeared on the social network X, where his supposed company was mocked: “I am heterosexual, but you will never hear or read a transphobic word from me. Because not only would I cease to be a man, but I would cease to be human.”

Several users claim that it is Petro, They argue that there are similarities between the clothes worn by the man in the video and those worn by the president when he landed in the Panamanian capital.

The Presidency has not made an official statement on the matter, there is only Petro’s post. In addition, supporters of the president claim that the film record is a montage, while others claim that it is a Colombian trans television presenter.

Gustavo Petro’s publication

”I have always considered that privacy is the “last ratio” of freedom, the last trench of being free, and I will maintain this principle until I write about myself or die. But these thousands of transphobic messages that have exploded in the hands of a right-wing society, deeply exclusionary, ignorant and discriminatory must be rejected by the president”, he began on his X account @petrogustavo.

“Every progressive knows that human beings are equal and that the fight for that equality implies physical and mental emancipation and therefore, no one who considers themselves human can generalize transphobia in weak minds or slavery and discrimination. That action does not express animality but brutality. That’s why they kill the different and by the millions. That’s why Nazis existed and exist.” he added.

“I am heterosexual, but you will never hear or read a transphobic word from me. Because not only would I cease to be a man, but I would cease to be human,” he concluded bluntly.
