A rockfall had previously severely damaged the rockfall net at the Wällerhüttentunnel, preventing cyclists and hikers from passing through for weeks.
The Austrian Federal Forests and the Kalkalpen National Park have now completed the extensive renovation of the rockfall network at their own expense. The beautiful Hintergebirgs cycle path along the large stream, through the old tunnels of the forest railway, past the Klaushütte, wild gorges and the famous Schleierfall, is a worthwhile destination for the whole family. The refreshing deep green water along the route invites you to swim, marvel and linger. Sports enthusiasts will get their money’s worth with the Triftsteig via ferrata along the way. The Hintergebirgs cycle path is easy to reach by public transport and e-bike from Reichraming train station.
