The decision will not be changed, but there is still room for improvement in the concrete implementation of the new dog run zone in Wasserwald. At least that is the view of VP councillor Victoria Langbauer. She called for a round table with those involved to find the best possible solution for everyone. Regardless of the new zone that has now been defined, communication from the city has been weak.
Langbauer, who herself lives near the Wasserwald, is referring to allotment garden owners, dog owners and the surrounding residents who only found out about the decision to change the dog run-off zone through the OÖN report. The framework within which those responsible and Linz AG as the landowner can operate is known, says Langbauer. “Let’s get the best out of it,” is her call to the decision-makers.
More on the subject: New dog run zone in the water forest causes concern
As reported, the new dog-free zone in Wasserwald, which was approved unanimously by the city government and thus also with the votes of the two VP representatives, is currently being “made active”. 21 hectares would be available, but the location along the long fence has been criticized by dog owners. It is too small, there is no fence and the path there is also heavily frequented by cyclists. Something needs to be thought about here, they say. City councilor Michael Raml (FP) had justified the change in the zone with incidents.
