He former president of the Republic, Julio Maria Sanguinettisuggested that the PIT-CNT carried out a “disinformation campaign” targeting the population during the collection of signatures to promote the plebiscite against the reform of social security.

The leader of the Colorado Party (PC)once again expressed its strong rejection of the union’s initiative and said at a press conference on Thursday that it had carried out a “strong” and “misinforming” campaign.

“He got the signatures, now we will see how the issue of the votes goes. Clearly, in the very Forehead (Broad) there are divisions or different visions on this matter,” said the Colorado leader.

“Clearly, the most recognized economist of the Frente (Amplio) today, (Gabriel) Odonnehas been emphatic in considering this to be very dangerous. We will see,” he continued.

On the other hand, Sanguinetti said that for the PIT-CNT It is very easy to “generate demagoguery” based on the idea “let’s earn more and work less”, in reference to the proposal to reduce the retirement age.

“I think that we need to inform because these are complex issues, they are not simple,” said the former president, who believes that “today we have to adjust to reality” and “give a stable horizon to the country’s finances,” since this “is the only way to have investment and employment.”

“There are several positions on the issue within the Broad Front,” said Fernando Pereira

For its part, the President of the Broad Front, Fernando Pereiratold reporters on Thursday that within his political force “there are several positions on the issue,” without this necessarily implying an internal conflict.

“The position of freedom of action will probably be the one that will be maintained,” said Pereira, who believes that “the best option is a social dialogue” that includes business owners, active workers and retirees.
