Two people were killed after a collision at an intersection on Friday afternoon in the municipality of Lohnsburg (Ried im Innkreis district): a 79-year-old woman died at the scene of the accident, and an 82-year-old woman died a short time later in hospital. The two elderly women from the Ried im Innkreis district were traveling together in a car on a farm track when the accident occurred at around 12:35 p.m. at an intersection with the L508.
The 82-year-old woman at the wheel of the car had turned left onto the main road and probably failed to see the approaching car of a 64-year-old from the Ried district, resulting in a collision. The 64-year-old was so badly injured that he had to be taken to Ried Hospital.
