On the first day of the campaign, the government organized 70 demonstrations in 70 cities in Venezuela to pay tribute to the 70th birthday of former President Hugo Chavez next July, the same day that the head of state, Nicolas Maduro, will seek a new mandate.

As part of this launch, President Maduro began his tour with an event in the state of Zulia, in the northwest of the country, and then traveled to Caracas, where he joined the march that went through the center of the country’s capital and congratulated those who participated in the mobilizations.

The arrival in the nation’s capital was accompanied “by 20 thousand motorcycles that came down from the hills to carry out mini marches throughout the city that converged in two gigantic marches,” described the general coordinator of the campaign command of the Gran Polo Patriótico Simón Bolívar, Jorge Rodríguez.

The nine opposition forces also carried out their acts and mobilizations: the Democratic Unitary Platform, Hope for Change, First Venezuela, Arepa Digital, Pencil Alliance, Solutions for Venezuela, Focused on the People, Democratic Action and the National Democratic Confederation.

Last week, the electoral simulation organized by the National Electoral Council (CNE) was held as part of the preparations for the presidential elections, where more than 21 million Venezuelans will be able to elect their next president. On that occasion, 1,174 voting centers with 3,006 polling stations were set up.

This electoral process is taking place amid an improvement in the Venezuelan economy, which registered an inflation of 1.5% last May and represented the lowest in the last 20 years, according to the Central Bank of Venezuela (BCV), based on data from the National Consumer Price Index (INPC), which began this measurement at the national level in 2008.

This result is in line with the report “Global Economic Outlook for 2024”, prepared by the International Monetary Fund (IMF), which predicts that Venezuela will be one of the Latin American countries with the greatest growth opportunities.
