Frustration with Tories helped Labour to landslide victory

King Charles III appointed Keir Starmer as the new Prime Minister yesterday.
Election loser Rishi Sunak resigned as leader of the Tories yesterday.

The polls had predicted it, and yet the defeat of the ruling Tories under Prime Minister Rishi Sunak was even more dramatic than expected. Landslide victory, massacre, disaster – the British media were literally tripping over themselves with their powerful statements. Sunak and his Conservatives, who had ruled for 14 years, lost at least 244 of their parliamentary seats (at the time of going to press, not all constituencies had been counted).
