These summer construction sites could lead to traffic disruptions in Linz

Infrastructure work may cause disruptions.

This year, the people of Linz and everyone who travels through Linz will be spared a major construction site. As a reminder: last year, the Mona Lisa Tunnel was completely closed for more than two months due to renovation work.

But this year too, the Linz City Council and the State of Upper Austria are using the summer months for smaller and larger construction work. “We are using the summer intensively to get our infrastructure up to scratch. I ask for the understanding of road users,” says transport officer Vice Mayor Martin Hajart (VP). The focus of the city’s construction program is on road repairs and the expansion of the pedestrian and cycle path infrastructure. 280,000 euros will also be used to modernize Linz Linien stops and make them safer, such as the “Glimpfingerstraße”, “Weinheberstraße” and “Lißfeld” stops.

The state is also active in the Linz urban area, for example on both sides of the Danube, where the cycle path to Margarethen is being built and the Eferdinger and Rohrbacher Strasse intersection is being renovated. “During the holiday season, there is up to 25 percent less traffic on the roads. We want to use this phase to carry out road and bridge renovations efficiently,” says Günther Steinkellner (FP), State Councilor for Infrastructure.

Wiener Straße: The footpath and cycle path at the intersection of Wiener Straße/Kremplstraße will be expanded between July and November; disruptions may occur due to a reduction in the number of lanes.

Wiener Straße: The construction of a new cycle path between In der Neuen Welt and Turmstraße will lead to a reduction in the number of lanes between July and November. The one-way cycle path will be converted into a two-way cycle path.

Dauphine Street: The current renovation of the footpaths and cycle paths on both sides of the A7 bridge, including the western and eastern ramps, is expected to result in some changes to the road surface until the end of July.

Prague Street: The sidewalk will be renovated in the summer, but no traffic disruptions are expected.

Ing.-Stern-Strasse: A combined pedestrian and cycle path will be built here on Franckstrasse in the summer.

Bernardisstrasse: The road will be renovated in the summer and will be closed for the duration of the construction work. Traffic will be diverted locally.

Bäckermühlweg: In July, a pedestrian and cycle path will be built and the road will be narrowed.

Hawthorn Trail: The connecting road to Flötzerweg will be renovated from mid-July. Green islands will also be created there and trees will be planted. The road will be closed for around three weeks.

Wankmüllerhofstrasse: The road is being renovated at the ramp to the Glimpfingerstraße intersection and will therefore be closed for about a week from mid-July.

Dinghoferstrasse: The road between Lustenauer Strasse and Volksfeststrasse is being renovated. The road will therefore be closed for around a week from mid-July.

High Street: The sidewalk is currently being extended by 85 meters.

Hanuschstrasse: Starting this week, the road between Reuchlinstrasse and Unionstrasse will be renovated and partially widened. The narrowing of the road may cause minor disruptions.

Traun Bridge Ebelsberg: The bridge will probably be renovated until July 19th.

Eferdinger Street: A structurally separated cycle path is currently being built between the Nibelungen Bridge and Margarethen, and construction site traffic may cause disruptions. Completion is planned for the end of the year.
