There was a change at the top of the hunting horn blowing groups in the Freistadt hunting district. For health reasons, the previous and long-standing district chairman Fritz Atteneder from Liebenau resigned from his position. Stefan Ellmer from Weitersfelden was unanimously elected as the new district chairman. At his side, Hannes Grünberger, also from Weitersfelden, was elected as his deputy in the management committee at district level.
Stefan Ellmer sees his main tasks in the service of the hunting horn blowers as the dissemination of information, organization and coordination of the seven hunting horn blower groups: “I will also report to the district gamekeeper at regular intervals about the diverse activities of our hunting horn blower groups.”
District hunting master Franz Auinger is looking forward to a successful and fruitful collaboration with Ellmer: “I am delighted that Stefan Ellmer has agreed to take on the role of district chairman of the hunting horn blowing groups, and at the same time I would like to thank the previous district chairman Fritz Atteneder for his extraordinary commitment to the hunting horn in the Freistadt hunting district over so many years.”
Important cultural carrier
The main task of the hunting horn blowing groups is to maintain and promote hunting customs and old traditions. This includes musical arrangements and accompaniment at St. Hubertus masses, hunting trips, driven or driven hunts, birthday parties, hunters’ weddings, hunters’ funerals and the annual district hunters’ day.
