STROBL. Shortly after a built-in refrigerator in a Strobl residential building was switched on, the appliance began to smoke heavily. The residents left the house and called the fire brigade, who were able to quickly extinguish the burning refrigerator. The evidence points to a technical defect. No one was injured.

EBENSEE. The Südufer-Sommer concert series has begun in Ebensee. Every Friday at 7 p.m., musical groups perform at the Trüföbankerl and give a relaxed open-air concert. Food and drink are provided, and the musicians are happy to accept small donations. The youngsters of the Salinenmusikkapelle will kick things off tomorrow.

GMUNDEN. The Gmunden actor and writer Erich Langwiesner is presenting his new book “Ausapern” today at 7 p.m. in the Gmunden town hall.

SCHöRFLING. The Vienna Academy Orchestra is giving a benefit concert at Schloss Kammer on Friday, July 12th at 7 p.m. The proceeds will support Ukrainian musicians who had to flee to Austria. The patron of the initiative is Foreign Minister Alexander Schallenberg.

LAAKIRCHEN. The 20th edition of the fistball city championships was held in the fistball stronghold of Laakirchen. 24 amateur teams had registered, 94 games were played at a high level, in perfect weather and in a good atmosphere. They were all injury-free. The tournament was organized by the ASKÖ Laakirchen Papier team. In the final, the “Gschwandtner Giganten” won against last year’s winners “Pink Lions”. “BP Steyrermühl” won third place.
