Infantry Assistant Sergeant Victor Isasi Flecha, 42, died on Monday night from a cardio-respiratory arrest due to “piercing injuries” caused by the animal, said a statement from the Military Forces.
The spokesman for the force, Victor Urdapilleta, explained to Reuters that the closed circuit cameras of the place captured the moment when the soldier approached the deer, which attacked him, causing a wound in the lung area.
Then he was treated at the Police hospital and transferred to the Military hospital, where his death was confirmed.
Urdapilleta said there was no history of a similar attack by these animals, which were in a restricted area of the presidential home, located in a residential neighborhood in Asunción.
The director of Wildlife of the Ministry of the Environment, Frederick Bauer, explained to local media that it was an Axis deer from India and that some specimens were donated to the presidential residence, while others were being raised on a farm in the interior of the country.
