Because the two teenagers were stuck with their legs and could no longer free themselves, they called the fire department for help. Luckily, the two had their cell phones with them.
As the Ennsdorf fire department (Amstetten district) reported, the young people were able to be rescued from their predicament after a short time. The volunteers, together with the alerted colleagues from the town of Enns and St. Pantaleon, were on duty for about half an hour. The callers are believed to have been unharmed and were handed over to the emergency services for examination.
Dry areas due to work on the power plant
After the incident, which occurred on Tuesday afternoon, the fire brigade appealed to people to be careful on the banks of the Enns. The municipality also put up signs on the banks warning people not to enter the muddy areas.
Maintenance work has been carried out at the Enns power plant from the beginning of July to October. This will result in a lowering of the water level by around two and a half metres. This is the only way to make certain areas accessible. The result of the lowering is that areas on the banks and in the riverbed will dry out, informed Ennskraftwerke AG. Access to the water and boating will only be possible to a limited extent during the work period.
