The high point of the speech had to do with homeless people, pointing out that the Executive headed by the president Luis Lacalle Pou “has not given a response,” referring to the fact that there are “a large number of homeless people” in the central areas.
Before the eyes of Cosse, presented at the event that took place in the Montevideo City Hall, Zunino pointed out that the number of people in that situation “continues to grow, it is enough for any of us to walk through July 18, San José or Soriano.”
The economist, who was elected as first alternate in the departmental elections of 2020, considered that the problem “affects part of the situation of cleaning from the city”.
In addition, he focused on ensuring the continuity of the Cosse process, highlighting the ABC plan, He said that “he put the most vulnerable population at the center.” “We have one year left to close this period of government and we have a set course. The government’s response
The words of the new mayor of Montevideo did not go down well with the government and the one who responded was the Minister of Social Development, Alejandro Sciarra, who said that the criticism “is quite striking.”
“Recently, a renowned member of the City Council said that it was because of people’s purchasing power,” Sciarra said ironically about the problem of the residue recolection.
However, he highlighted the ability of coordination between Mides and IM. “We have had our disagreements, but we work together as much as we can,” he admitted and said that he hopes Zunino shows “more dedication.”
