The ÖAMTC announced this in a press release. The first accident occurred at around 7 a.m. in the area of ​​a construction site near Ort im Innkreis. A six-kilometer-long traffic jam was the result.

There was another crash in the traffic jam, which brought traffic to a standstill all the way to the German border. The scene of the next collision near Pichl near Wels was cleared quickly, but it caused another hour of delay.

At around 8 a.m., the A8 had to be closed in the southbound direction shortly after the Noitzmühle tunnel near Wels because four vehicles had collided. The route was not largely clear again until around 10 a.m. According to the ÖAMTC, the Innkreis motorway was “the focus of traffic jams for the first time this summer.” Elsewhere, traffic was only flowing more smoothly to a limited extent: at around 9.30 a.m., the A1 (Westautobahn) was also closed for a short time. The cause was an accident near Thalgau in the direction of Linz.
