A 19-year-old car driver from Linz was driving in the left lane on the A8 towards Sattledt at around 7:35 a.m. In the municipality of Dietrichshofen, he had to brake hard because of a line of cars. The car following behind, driven by a 46-year-old Hungarian, was unable to stop in time and drove into the Linz driver’s vehicle.
The car following behind, driven by a 20-year-old German, was also unable to brake in time and again drove into the Hungarian’s car.
The Hungarian’s passengers, aged 43 and 16, were taken to Ried im Innkreis hospital with minor injuries. The passenger in the German’s car was also injured and taken to Schärding hospital. The accident site was only passable in one lane for about two hours, which caused repeated traffic jams.
