Valeria Ripoll heats up the campaign with criticism of the management of Carolina Cosse and Yamandú Orsi

The vice-presidential candidate for the National Party said that the former mayor of Montevideo was characterized by “not providing services to the people of Montevideo.”

The vice presidential candidate of Uruguay for him National Party, Valeria Ripoll, once again pointed the finger at his counterpart Broad Front, Carolina Cosse, and harshly criticized the management of the former mayor of Montevideo, whom he met during his time leading the Association of Municipal Employees and Workers (ADEOM) From the capital.

The clash between the vice presidential candidates has attracted attention since the same night of the primaries, June 30, Alvaro Delgado He confirmed that Ripoll would accompany him on the white ticket for October; and that the election results confirmed that Cosse would be the partner of Yamandú Orsi in her presidential candidacy. Both know each other from the capital’s management that, until Monday, the Frente Amplio member led from the position of mayor and that, until Friday, the nationalist experienced from her union role as president of the National Federation of Municipal Workers (FNM) —despite having resigned from Adeom in August 2023.

“It was to be expected. It is the icing on the cake for a mayor who used the structure of the Montevideo City Hall to campaign,” Ripoll told Subrayado regarding the closing ceremony of Cosse’s administration on Tuesday at the Model Space; an event heavily criticized by the white ranks for the alleged use of public funds for a personal event.

According to Ripoll, Cosse deepened “even further” the electoral use of the departmental government during the campaign. “She used the municipal structure, City TV, press and communication, create a ABC Plan which are actually municipal services that the mayor’s office must normally provide by putting a personal label on them, painting traffic lights green,” he added.

“The only thing that was in his head was his candidacy and not provide services to the people of Montevideo,” insisted the surprise candidate of the National Party.

The common point of the Frente Amplio formula: poor management

Ripoll took the opportunity to continue criticizing those who are emerging as his main competitors in an election that, if one takes into account what was seen in the primaries, will be very polarized among the main political forces in the country.

In this regard, he pointed out that both Orsi and Cosse had “very poor management” in cannelloni and Montevideo, respectively.

“The situation in Montevideo is obvious: it has not been able to deal with any of the major issues municipal services. “She couldn’t handle the cleaning, she couldn’t handle the lighting, she couldn’t handle the traffic,” she listed, and pointed out that if she couldn’t meet those objectives as mayor, “much less” will she be able to do so in the “role she is currently applying for.”

“Orsi the same: leaves the highest deficit in history in the Canelones City Hallwhere the tool of appointment and direct contract has been used for all the leaders of other parties who decided to join their sector. It is clear that you cannot assume the responsibility of a national government,” Ripoll pointed out.
