According to consistent reports from South Tyrolean media, the man, who apparently did not come from South Tyrol, was out on a pedal boat with two friends. The man then jumped into the water, although he apparently could not swim, and went under. Divers recovered the 27-year-old after an hour-long search. A sonar device was also used in the search.
Another fatal swimming accident
Just on Friday, a 15-year-old died in South Tyrol after a swimming accident. The youth from Prissian suddenly disappeared from the surface while diving in a swimming pool in St. Leonhard in Passeier on Wednesday. The 15-year-old had apparently suffered a cardiac arrest, South Tyrolean media reported. The youth was pulled out of the water and was able to be resuscitated. He was eventually flown to hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
