A man from the Steyr-Land district is said to have set out on an illegal joyride on the night of Sunday: The 37-year-old is said to have drunkenly got behind the wheel of a small van belonging to a 30-year-old from the Steyr-Land district and driven the vehicle from Aschach to Bad Hall.
On the 15-kilometer stretch, he is believed to have caused a traffic accident with property damage and then committed a hit-and-run. This is at least what the damage to the front of the vehicle suggests.
The 30-year-old owner of the car reported the incident to the police on Sunday morning. Investigations are ongoing, the police announced on Sunday evening. It is still unclear where the alleged accident site is. The Bad Hall police station is accepting information on 059133 4151.
