Squealing tires, howling engines, wild driving maneuvers and loud music: A group of car enthusiasts did not behave in a particularly inconspicuous manner late on Saturday evening in a parking lot along the Vienna Bundesstrasse. Several residents called the police emergency number because of noise pollution, and the police arrived at around 11:15 p.m. to carry out intensive checks.
As the official proceedings continued, more and more people arrived until groups of around 50 people had formed around the officers and it was almost impossible to carry out checks. At the same time, some car enthusiasts were causing trouble with drifting and other conspicuous driving. The area was cordoned off and the cars leaving were checked individually. It took a good one and a half hours for the parking lot to empty.
The result of the operation: A total of six license plates were confiscated, one report was filed for breach of decency, five reports for noise, 20 reports under the road traffic regulations and one warrant was issued. Two drivers were given a special inspection of their vehicles, the police announced on Sunday afternoon.
