299 girls and 286 boys were born in the Pyhrn-Eisenwurzen Klinikum Kirchdorf last year. That is 17 more children than in 2020. A particularly large number of expectant mothers trusted in water births again last year. The house is one of the front runners in this gentle delivery method. The entire obstetrics team at the Pyhrn-Eisenwurzen-Klinikum Kirchdorf has set itself the task of creating an atmosphere in which the expectant parents feel comfortable. They can fully rely on the specialist knowledge of the midwives, doctors and nursing staff. “The needs of our women giving birth are clearly in the foreground. If the birth goes without complications, we enable the mothers to give birth independently – depending on their wishes. In addition to good care by the entire obstetrics team, we attach great importance to an intimate and loving atmosphere “, says the senior midwife Monika Kaiblinger. The medical team is available at any time in the event of a high-risk birth or unforeseen complications.
Gentle birth under water
The water birth is of particular importance at the Kirchdorf Clinic. Around a third of all expectant mothers from the Pyhrn-Eisenwurzen region give birth to their baby in water. This makes the Pyhrn-Eisenwurzen-Klinikum Kirchdorf one of the leading hospitals when it comes to water births. The advantages are obvious, says Primarius Josef Hager: “We need less painkillers for water births, and there are fewer injuries to the perineum. In addition, there is less blood loss and the warm water stimulates labor.”
A particularly high number of deliveries were recorded in August and October. On the highest birth day, June 9, 2021, seven babies were born. Marie headed the girls’ list of names, followed by Emma, Franziska and Leonie. David, Paul and Tobias were particularly popular with the boys’ names.
