The flames broke out while driving, for an initially unknown cause, and according to the police, the driver was able to park the vehicle on the acceleration lane at the Kesselhof rest stop. The 13 Romanian inmates were able to get out on time. Nobody got hurt. Four fire brigades put out the flames, the FF St. Pölten-Stadt reported by broadcast. There were two chauffeurs and eleven passengers in the Romanian bus, said a spokesman for the Lower Austria state police department on request. The fire spread quickly, so that the vehicle was already in full fire when the fire brigade arrived, the FF reported. The bus was destroyed by the flames and had to be recovered using a crane vehicle, among other things. The Vienna lane was closed during the work. The cause of the fire is to be determined in the next few days.

Shortly before, the St. Pölten city fire brigade had been on duty together with the FF St. Pölten-Wagram after a collision on the Krems expressway (S33) at the junction with the A1. According to the police, the traffic accident resulted in a seriously injured person. A truck that was also involved in the crash was able to continue its journey independently, announced the FF.
