The fire department in Piberbach received the alarm at around 4:30 p.m.: A fire had broken out in a field not far from a square. A technical defect in an agricultural machine is believed to have caused the fire. The dry and hot conditions meant that the flames spread quickly. Alarm level two was declared and seven fire departments from the surrounding area were called to the scene.
They also have an attentive neighbor to thank for the fact that they were able to quickly bring the flames under control. When the farmer noticed the fire, he acted quickly and correctly: He immediately arrived with a harrow and was able to contain the area where the fire was spreading. After a good two hours, the fire department’s operation was over.
