Telekom Austria was able to increase revenue from services by 3.5 percent to 2.19 billion euros. However, revenue from the sale of end devices fell by 11.6 percent to 344 million euros.
Mobile communications as a cash cow
At 1.52 billion euros (+0.8 percent), the majority of sales came from mobile communications. Here too, the sale of end devices, at 303 million euros, brought in 7.5 percent less sales than in the same period last year. However, services generated sales of 1.22 billion euros, according to the company’s financial report. Services generated 3.1 percent more sales here, at 1.22 billion euros.
Fixed-line revenue rose by 1.7 percent to 1.01 billion euros in the first half of the year, although in the second quarter this was only enough to increase revenue by 0.4 percent. Revenue from services rose to 972 million euros, while revenue from the sale of end devices rose by around a third to 41 million euros. In the mobile sector, the company was able to increase the number of customers by 6 percent to almost 26 million.
The operating result (EBIT) fell by 9.1 percent to 396 million euros, the EBIT margin fell from 17 to 15.3 percent. The markets of Bulgaria, Croatia, Belarus, Slovenia, Serbia and North Macedonia contributed almost 1.22 billion euros to total sales in the first half of the year. At 18.3 percent, a better EBIT margin was also achieved there.
