A 45-year-old man was carrying illegal luggage when he was travelling by train from Germany to Vienna at the end of May: Police officers from the Passau border police became aware of the man because he behaved extremely nervously during their check. The officers asked colleagues from Linz to carry out a second check at the destination station. They were to intercept the suspect as he was getting off the train and also determine whether he was carrying any luggage.
The 45-year-old actually got off the train at Vienna’s main station with a huge suitcase. The contents: a good kilogram of cocaine and 14.5 kilograms of cannabis – drugs with a street value of more than 100,000 euros. He was arrested and taken to the Vienna main station police station. During his questioning, he said he had seen the suitcase on the train and wanted to steal it without knowing what was in it. The 45-year-old was taken to Vienna’s Josefstadt prison, police announced on Tuesday.
