Between the car park and the entrance to the main road, on the eastern bank of the Greinerbach, there is a green area that has been transformed into a “city garden” over the past few months with a lot of sweat, effort and attention to detail. The cultural collective “Stadt Land Fluss” with its chairwomen Sarah Maria Saminger and Melanie Janz as well as numerous volunteers are responsible for this. The area was opened with a garden party on Sunday.
An eye-catcher in the garden are the seating in the form of large granite steps, which are designed like a small arena. They offer a view of the Danube and the Brandstetterkogel. A wooden platform under an old walnut tree can be used for smaller events in the future. The city garden is bordered by a 17-meter-long apple hedge. Dry stone walls, cobbled paths, wooden fences and a variety of plants complete the charm of the city garden. “Many guests told us at the opening that the square is even more beautiful from inside than you would imagine when you walk past,” said Saminger and Janz, delighted with the many positive reactions at the opening party.
Numerous private sponsors and companies made this project possible. These can be found on an information board. The association was also able to secure EU co-financing from the LEADER regional funding program to realize the city garden.
