In the future, voluntary work in organizations with security tasks will be given special consideration in the selection process for a job in the Engerwitzdorf municipal service. The municipal council is expected to decide on this at one of its next meetings.
Specifically, this volunteer bonus is aimed at members of the volunteer fire brigade and rescue services such as the Red Cross, mountain rescue or air rescue. If a selection process shows that two or more applicants are equally qualified for a position, this volunteer bonus will come into effect. Applicants must prove their volunteer work through active membership and provide confirmation that they are active in the field of life-saving activities.
The Engerwitzdorf municipal council unanimously accepted a corresponding urgent motion and assigned it to the responsible committee for discussion. This will then be decided at one of the next municipal council meetings.
“Politicians have been talking for years about the fact that volunteer work must be worth something. With the proposal to introduce a volunteer bonus, we are not just talking about it, we are also taking action,” says Mayor Herbert Fürst (VP), who submitted this proposal to the local council. He hopes that the bonus will receive broad approval in the local council once it has been formulated by the committee.
In the past, support measures have already been put in place for employees who work in a fire service. For example, there is special leave for emergency operations, disaster situations or training courses.
