Some of Europe’s strongest U19 cyclists are travelling across Upper Austria from today until Sunday. The occasion is the 49th “International Upper Austrian Insurance Junior Tour”. Tomorrow, Saturday, the tour convoy will concentrate entirely on Sarleinsbach. The community in the Rohrbach district is both the start and finish of the second stage of the tour.
The start of this hilly section is at 4 p.m. The finish is expected at around 6.45 p.m. The selective route of 116 km leads from the start via Hühnergeschrei and Bruckwirt up to the mountain classification in Lembach. From there it continues via Putzleinsdorf and back to Sarleinsbach. This selective circuit has to be completed a total of five times. Austria will have two teams at the start of the tour: the Austrian national team, supervised by Thomas Binder, and the Upper Austria regional team, supervised by state coach Valentin Zeller.
As a special highlight for spectators, the entire race, including the four mountain classifications and three sprint classifications, can be followed live on a huge video wall in the start-finish area on the market square in Sarleinsbach. Immediately after the award ceremony (around 7 p.m.), the cycling club “DNA – Gartner Cycling Team Sarleinsbach” is holding a big after-race party, where the winners of this cycling spectacle will be celebrated extensively.
