This empty building in St. Marien burned

An empty building in the Innviertel region caught fire on May 12th of this year. The fire departments of Weißenberg and St. Marien spent one and a half hours extinguishing the fire in the building near Nöstlbach train station. The cause of the fire is still unclear.

However, based on several witness statements, the course of events has now been reconstructed: it was arson. The police reported this on Friday evening. The 15-year-old who reported the fire that day is said to have started it himself.

Garbage was set on fire

He is said to have broken into the empty family home and set fire to rubbish lying around. Several witnesses said they saw the youth doing this. The 15-year-old himself has not confessed. He has also remained silent about his motive. He has been reported to the Linz public prosecutor’s office.
