The pastor has been temporarily suspended, the Protestant Church in Alsace and Lorraine (UEPAL) announced. The newspaper “Les Dernières Nouvelles d’Alsace” reported that the pastor was caught by staff at a large supermarket in Colmar taking photos of customers’ underwear.
The priest is also said to have taken similar photos, including of minors, in another supermarket in the Alsatian city. He is accused of serious voyeurism.
As the church announced, it initiated internal disciplinary proceedings parallel to the public prosecutor’s investigation. It also informed the parishes and the mayors of the towns where the pastor was deployed.
