Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro, having discharged from the hospital on Wednesday, January 5, announced that there were no plans to cancel a trip to Russia planned for February. He stated this during a press conference, which was broadcast on the presidential administration’s YouTube account.
“Everything that is programmed will be done. This month I will have a trip to the northeast [Бразилии], in Rio de Janeiro. In February there will be a visit to Russia, this is quite an interesting visit for Brazil, ”Bolsonaro said.
In December, during his weekly speech, Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro announced plans to visit Russia in the first quarter of 2022 at the invitation of Russian leader Vladimir Putin.
Earlier, on October 31, Anatoly Punchuk, Deputy Director of the Federal Service for Military-Technical Cooperation (FSMTC), said that Russia and Brazil continue to discuss the possible purchase by the Latin American country of Pantsir-C1 anti-aircraft missile and cannon systems (ZRPK). As the deputy head of the service noted, Brazil had previously been actively working on the issue of acquiring a modern Russian complex. This, he said, was due to the need to ensure the safety of important international events held in the country at that time.
