Joe Biden’s debacle and his endorsement of Kamala Harris
Biden’s debacle as a re-election candidate began after the first electoral debate in which he was seen to be physically fragile and having difficulty expressing himself and arguing against Trump.
“While it has been my intention to seek re-election, I believe it is in the best interest of my party and the country that I resign and focus solely on fulfilling my duties as President for the remainder of my term,” the 81-year-old US president wrote on his X account.
Following Biden’s support for his vice president and the candidate he shared on the ticket for re-election, several Democratic senators and representatives reacted by giving their support to that candidacy. Meanwhile, Republican Trump was confident that it would be easier to defeat her than the president himself.
“My first decision as our party’s nominee in 2020 was to choose Kamala Harris as my Vice President. And it was the best decision I’ve ever made. Today, I want to offer my full support and endorsement for Kamala to be our party’s nominee this year. Democrats: It’s time to unite and defeat Trump. Let’s do it,” Biden wrote.
According to CNN, Kamala Harris will keep a low profile in public until President Biden addresses the nation, which will occur towards the end of this week since she is currently resting due to Covid-19.
The vice president’s allies, meanwhile, are calling for delegates ahead of the Democratic National Convention to strengthen the candidacy ahead of that convention and prevent other serious candidates from emerging.
