Innviertler Cup: Lambrechten aims for the “final at home”

In the quarter-finals, SV Lambrechten clearly beat Enzenkirchen 5-0.

The hot phase of the Innviertel Football Cup is approaching: Tomorrow Tuesday (kick-off at 6.30 p.m. each time) the two participants for the grand final next Saturday will be determined. This year, the traditionally well-attended event will be hosted by SV Lambrechten – for the first time in the 65-year history of the cup. Whether the SVL will also contest the “Finale dahoam” itself will be decided tomorrow in the first semi-final against USV Neuhofen. While it would be the first time for Neuhofen to take part in the final, Lambrechte could make it to the grand final for the second time in a row. In 2022, however, they ultimately had to admit defeat to Union Peterskirchen on penalties.

“As a newly promoted regional league team, Neuhofen is the favorite. But our goal is clearly to play the final on our own pitch,” says Lambrechten coach Gerhard Obermair, who only took over the coaching reins at SVL a few weeks ago. “I’m very happy with the preparation so far, the players are already implementing a lot of what I imagine. We’ve played very well so far and are therefore highly motivated for the semi-final,” says Obermair.

Record cup winner wants to reach the final again after 15 years

In the second semi-final of the 33rd edition of the traditional tournament, the surprise team from Neukirchen an der Enknach (1st class Southwest) will host the regional league team from Esternberg. The Neukirchen team are the “giant killers” of this year’s cup: With Riedau (2:0) and Gurten 1b (1:0), they have already knocked two district league teams out of the competition. Record cup winners Esternberg (5 titles) again lived up to their role as favorites against St. Martin (2:0), Schardenberg (4:0) and Eggerding (1:0). The “Sauwaldveilchen” are aiming for their seventh final appearance tomorrow, the last time they were in the cup final was in 2009, which they won.

The final day in Lambrechten next Saturday begins at 3:30 p.m. with the match for third place. Who will ultimately be able to raise the OÖN Cup trophy into the Lambrechten sky will be decided in the grand finale starting at 6 p.m. In addition to the two exciting final matches, there will also be an entertaining supporting program. There will be a big raffle with great prizes, and the Lambrechten music club will be playing at the sports field.
