In the last few hours, I spoke with Mayor Caram and asked him to resign as Mayor of Artigas and also asked him not to present himself as a candidate for deputy.”

LA Heber asks for tougher action
For his part, the former Minister of the Interior and senator, Luis Alberto Heberexpressed his anger regarding the case. “There is an act of corruption in a government of the National Party in the department of Artigas,” he said.
“This situation that we are experiencing in the National Party is a real shame. The actions of the mayor and the deputy have been shameful for the honor and pride of the party,” he lamented and added: “Corruption is corruption and its dimension does not matter.”
In this regard, he asked that the measures taken be tough. “What we have to do is act well, because that is what distinguishes us from other parties that had the same performances. It was to be implacable with our own. To be tougher with our own so that we can raise our voice to have the opportunity to point the finger,” he stressed.
Waiting for resignation
