The Colorado Party demanded that the convicted officials compensate the Municipality of Artigas

The political force of the governing alliance understands that the authorities must compensate the damages to the departmental government.

The National Executive Committee (CED) of the Colorado Party (PC) demanded that the officials convicted under the Overtime caseamong them the now former mayor of National Party (PN), Pablo Caramshould financially compensate the Artigas Municipality for the damages caused.

Based on Article 25 of the Constitution of the Republic, the Colorado CED understands that the convicted officials must take action to compensate the departmental government for damages suffered due to illegal conduct.

This Monday, before Caram’s resignation was almost a fact, the PC released a document in which it condemned the “criminal acts” that led to Caram’s criminal conviction, former nationalist deputy Valentina Dos Santos and the former Secretary General Rodolfo Caramcousin of the former leader.

“The democratic system does not allow, and our legislation condemns, any act of corruption in the improper use of public power or exercise of public office,” states the document signed by the Deputy Secretary Gustavo Osta and the Deputy Felipe Schipaniwho acts as the rotating president of the CED.

On the other hand, the departmental councillors of the PC were congratulated, Daniel Argañaraz, Francisco Bandera and Cecilia Umpiérrezwho filed criminal complaints against the convicted men.

The party that is part of the governing alliance also expects the same speed in “processing other cases that were duly reported and are being studied by the Public Prosecutor’s Office, referring to events that appear to be criminal in the past.”

The Colorado Party revives the bill for municipal competitions

On the other hand, and in light of the facts, the PC believes it is appropriate that the Parliament approve the bill that was presented by the now deceased former Colorado senator Adrian Penarelated to the transparency and mandatory nature of competitions for entry into public service in the municipalities.

At the same time, they emphasize the need to approve the bill presented by the Colorado deputy Conrado Rodriguezreferring to the suspension and loss of the right to collect the subsidy provided for in Article 5 of Law No. 15,900 for crimes against public administration and others related to corruption.
