The US explained the importance of the ambassador’s position to Ukraine by the “aggression of Russia”

The post of the US ambassador to Ukraine is important in the context of the “ongoing Russian aggression” near the country’s borders. This was announced on Thursday, January 6, by the American Senator, a member of the Democratic Party Jeanne Sheikhin.

The senator saw “growing militancy” in the actions of the Russian Federation, so she considered it important to support Kiev by the urgent appointment of a new ambassador.

“Constant provocations [президента России Владимира] Putin’s presence along the Ukrainian border and growing militancy underscore the importance of the presence of the US ambassador in Kiev to support our Ukrainian partners at this critical juncture, ”Sheikhin said.

At the same time, the White House noted earlier that they had not yet found a suitable person for this position.

On January 2, US President Joe Biden and Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelenskyy discussed measures to support Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity during a telephone conversation. During the conversation, the owner of the White House expressed his adherence to the principle of “nothing about you without you” in relation to Kiev, and also announced Washington’s support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the country.

In addition, the American leader noted that the United States, its allies and partners will give a decisive response in the event of an aggravation of the situation on the Ukrainian border.

In December, a number of Western media published information about the alleged plans of the Russian Federation to “invade” Ukraine. So, on December 4, the American newspaper The Washington Post, citing officials in the US administration, reported that Russia allegedly intends to invade Ukraine at the beginning of next year, using “up to 175 thousand troops.” Moscow has repeatedly rejected such false information.

On December 28, Deputy Speaker of the Federation Council Konstantin Kosachev said that Russia is not planning a military operation against Ukraine, but reserves the right to promptly use its Armed Forces to protect Russian citizens abroad.

On December 23, during a press conference, Russian President Vladimir Putin answered a question about Russia’s alleged plans to invade Ukraine. According to him, such statements give the impression that the Ukrainian side is “preparing a third operation” in Donbass.
