An OÖN report on the relocated town sign in Steinhaus has triggered numerous reactions. As reported, unknown persons simply moved a town sign at the end of June because the speed limit is 100 km/h near the new housing development on Bussardstrasse and a children’s playground. Local residents are worried about the safety of their children and would like drivers to be limited to 50 km/h. A short time later, the municipality moved the town sign back.
Residents have already made several representations to Mayor Harald Piritsch (FPÖ). “But we cannot set something up on our own. If the traffic engineer does not give a positive assessment of what the population wants, then it will not work,” stresses Piritsch.

“It’s only a matter of time before something happens,” warns VP councillor Bernhard Aichinger, whose children also play on the playground and who has been working to improve road safety for some time. “Not only in Steinhaus, but also in other communities, we need to be quicker when it comes to issues that involve safety,” says Aichinger.
