46-year-old stumbled on tracks at Vöcklabruck train station: lower leg severed

A brief moment of inattention had serious consequences for a 46-year-old from the Gmunden district on Tuesday afternoon: The man was on platform 2 at Vöcklabruck station when the accident occurred at around 4:15 p.m. Just at the moment when a Railjet was approaching the station at high speed, the 46-year-old stumbled and fell onto the tracks in front of several shocked witnesses.

Witnesses provided first aid

The passenger train hit the man in the leg area. According to the police, his left lower leg was severed. Passers-by, including three doctors, immediately provided first aid and called the emergency services. The seriously injured man was taken to Vöcklabruck Hospital, police said on Tuesday evening.
