American screenwriter and producer Jay Wolpert has died in Los Angeles at the age of 79. Writes about this on January 4 edition of Deadline.
It is noted that Wolpert died a day earlier, on Monday, from Alzheimer’s. The screenwriter did not live to see his 80th birthday for three weeks.
Jay Wolpert was born in New York in 1942. In the 70s, he started producing films, and later concentrated on writing scripts.
Jay Wolpert’s most famous work was the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise. In particular, he wrote the characters of the story and came up with the plot of the first film in the franchise – “Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl.”
Also on his account is the script for the film “The Count of Monte Cristo” directed by Kevin Reynolds with actors James Caviezel and Guy Pearce in the lead roles.
In addition, Wolpert has contributed to the production of in-game TV shows such as The Price Is Right.
