Tax collection fell in the last two months despite the improvement in VAT

The collection fell during the last two months after the rise recorded in April, according to the latest data published by the General Directorate of Taxation (DGI), corresponding to May and June.

This fall occurred despite the better perception of VAT, because the rest of the taxes showed a negative sign, according to reports published this Tuesday by the DGI.

The body dependent on the Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF) reported that the total gross revenue reached 49.771 billion pesos in June, which implies a zero real variation, while in May it was 54.738 billion pesos, a decrease of 4.4%.

Meanwhile, the net perception, After deducting tax refunds, the figure was 40.616 billion pesos in June, reflecting a 1.6% drop, lower than the 2.8% drop in May, when the figure totaled 44.796 billion pesos.

How each tax was collected

When analyzing each of the taxes, the collection of the VAT was the best performer, as in June it improved by 4.8% in real terms, reaching 24.27 billion pesos and thus representing 48.8% of the gross total. In May, meanwhile, it had fallen by 1%, to 26.111 billion (47.7% of the total).

Perceptions by Imesi, However, they improved by 4.8% in June, amounting to 4.115 billion pesos, reaching 8.3% of the total, but without managing to recover the sharp fall in May, which was 25.3%, amounting to just 3.663 billion pesos (6.7% of the total).

The Tax on Income from Economic Activities (IRAE), In the meantime, it fell in both months. In June it fell by 5.9% and in May it fell by 6.9%, collecting 6.21 billion pesos (12.5% ​​of the total) and 6.447 billion pesos (11.8% of the total), respectively.

Finally, the Personal Income Tax (IRPF) improved by 0.7% in June, with perceptions of 8.543 billion pesos (17.2% of the total), while in May it fell by 12.7%, reaching 9.811 billion (17.9% of the total).
