Another sad case of animal cruelty has come to light in Upper Austria: In the municipality of Senftenbach (district of Ried im Innkreis), a cat belonging to a couple from the village of St. Ulrich was shot twice. An unknown person fired an air rifle at the four-legged animal and hit it in both the head and stomach. The animal survived.

Veterinarian removed projectile
The incident occurred between Monday, 5:30 p.m. and Tuesday, 7 a.m., police said. The crime scene is believed to be in the vicinity of the town of St. Ulrich near Senftenbach. On Tuesday morning, the couple found the injured and distressed pet and took it to a veterinarian, who removed the projectile that was lodged between the cat’s eyes.

Police investigate
The police have begun investigations into animal cruelty. Since there are currently no concrete clues, the police are asking anyone to report any information to the Aurolzmünster police station on 059133-4242.
Only in mid-July, a gruesome case of animal cruelty occurred in the Innviertel: an unknown person had cut off the penis and testicles of a stray tomcat in the municipality of St. Pantaleon (Braunau am Inn district) with scissors.
