Guggenberg, a town in the community of Tiefgraben in the district of Vöcklabruck, is world champion. At the youth fire brigade competition in Trentino, Italy, the mixed relay team “Guggenberg 1” came first and thus won the fire brigade world championship title. With a flawless time of 36.34 seconds on the obstacle course and 61.95 seconds in the relay race, the young people left all their competitors behind.
The 60 groups from 22 nations were well prepared, and a close race was already apparent during training. Austria was represented by three groups from Upper Austria: Bad Mühllacken, Guggenberg and Mitteregg-Haagen-Sand. The team from Bad Mühllacken fought its way to eighth place overall – also in the mixed ranking. The group from Mitteregg-Haagen-Sand achieved fourth place in the girls’ ranking.
The successful obstacle course of Guggenberg 1:
“I congratulate the girls and boys on their great achievements. They have worked towards this day for months, trained and given their all. The groups from the other nations were particularly strong this year, it was exciting right up to the end. I am proud of our youth firefighters for taking on this challenge, showing team spirit and solidarity and bringing the world championship title back to Austria,” said state fire brigade commander Robert Mayer.
Cheers from Upper Austria:
