Customs discovered 50 kilograms of opium poppy in a transporter in Germany

The driver and his passenger were taken into custody, the main customs office in Saarbrücken in Germany announced on Friday. According to the report, the car from Austria was checked on the Autobahn 61 near Dannstadt on Friday last week. However, the occupants were not Austrian citizens, the main customs office told APA.

Inside, the officers found 13 blue garbage bags containing 500 individual packages of opium poppies. Investigators accuse the 44-year-old and the 39-year-old of violating the Narcotics Act. A judge issued an arrest warrant for joint illegal importation of drugs. Both are now in different prisons.
