Custody imposed on Covid deniers

The Sunday “walk” against the Covid measures and the compulsory vaccination ended for a 42-year-old Steyrer in the prison cell. The hitherto innocent man had punched a police officer in the face during the march after he had warned him to wear the mask. After he went into the crowd, the police managed to track him down anyway. During his arrest, the Covid denier injured three other officers who suffered bruises and tear wounds.

The rabid demonstrator was initially taken into custody in the Garsten prison. On Wednesday, the responsible judge at the Steyr Regional Court imposed custody of the machining technician, who was currently on educational leave. As a spokesman for the court told OÖNachrichten, the criminal process against the violent Covid denier will begin “promptly”. Because everyone involved, the accused offender and the police officers, had already been questioned, the main proceedings had already started and the prosecution had already finished the indictment. She accuses the 42-year-old Steyrer of resisting state violence and serious bodily harm, as well as illegal possession of weapons because the man carried a steel rod with him during the protest march.

Penalty three years

The 42-year-old’s lawyer immediately lodged a complaint against his client’s custody. This will now be dealt with by the Linz Higher Regional Court at the same time as the main proceedings. The Covid denier, who has so far partially confessed, faces up to three years imprisonment if convicted for resisting state violence.
