A family quarrel in Hofkirchen an der Trattnach (Grieskirchen district) ended bloody on the night of Epiphany. After a 66-year-old had consumed several alcoholic beverages together with his 34-year-old son, an argument broke out between the two men.
The father picked up the knife, stabbed his son and seriously injured him in the process. After the crime, the man immediately contacted his wife, who was separated from him, and asked her to call the ambulance and the police. The man waited for the emergency services to arrive and allowed himself to be arrested without resistance. The son was brought to the Wels-Grieskirchen Clinic by the ambulance.
Background still unclear
The background to what sparked the dispute has yet to be determined. “The 34-year-old was seriously injured and brought to the hospital yesterday and had to be treated surgically,” says Kerstin Pindeus, press spokeswoman for the Wels-Grieskirchen Clinic. However, the man’s condition is no longer critical.
