The young man was taking part in a two-day race in the municipality of Schönau im Mühlkreis with his 85ccm³ motocross bike. He fell. A rider coming up behind him was unable to avoid him in time and ran over his left forearm.
The Red Cross, which was stationed at the race track, provided the 13-year-old with initial treatment. He was then taken to the Kepler University Hospital by rescue helicopter.
