He President of the Broad Front (FA), Fernando Pereirarejected the idea that the presidential candidate of the left-wing political force, Yamandú Orsihad to debate at the same time with all the candidates of the Republican Coalition (Multicolor Coalition), since it believes that the ruling party should designate one of its presidential candidates before an exchange.
Last Saturday, the Frente Amplio leader denied that his political force is “hiding” Orsi from the debate, but that this is a response to a party decision not to expose him to discussions that are unbalanced in a scenario of four against one.
“This is a decision of the Broad Front. The FA is a coalition that aims to be a government and the four members they invite are a coalition that aims to be a government. Would you go to an exchange where four members of one coalition go and one from another? asked the president of the FA.
In this regard, he stressed that the opposition coalition “will not choose” which of the four presidential candidates it will debate with, and that “it will go with anyone,” as long as it is one against one.
“It’s a game that the Broad Front is not going to enter”
“This seems logical to me in any exchange with any organization, getting used to the fact that to govern they are a single coalition, but when they come to debate they are four, it is a game in which the Broad Front “He will not be entering, neither on this occasion nor on any other,” Pereira continued.
“It is not about excluding anyone, they can choose in all of them (Andrew) Ojedaor in all of them (Alvaro) Slimor in all of them (Pablo) Mieresor in all of them (Guido) Maninior they can alternate, what has to be clear is that one will go with the coalition. The same thing happened to us with the LUC, they wanted to invite us to a debate where the Independent Partyhe Colorado Partyhe National Party, Town meeting and a delegate from the Broad Front and we did not accept it,” he recalled.
In turn, Pereira added: “If what they wanted was for all the parties to go, they would have to invite 16, right? If they wanted to invite all those who have parliamentary representation, they would have to invite 16. PERI (Intransigent Radical Ecologist Party) and the party of (Eduardo) Lust —Constitutional Environmentalist Party—, but no, they cut into the coalition, so they are inviting those who they think can govern, Broad Front or the Multicolor Coalition, which in fact, in some departments will be presented as a single party.”
