There are 55 people living in Linz who are 100 years old or older. In comparison: in 2010 there were 19 people. “The increasing life expectancy proves a high quality of life in Linz,” says city councilor Dietmar Prammer (SP). “The infrastructure for the older generation in particular has been and is being continuously expanded.” This is also important because a quarter of the city’s residents – 54,171 people – are already over 60 years old.
A trend that is intensifying with the arrival of many baby boomers, which is reaching its peak this year. According to the latest figures from Linz’s urban research, 29,474 people are 70 or older, 13,133 people are over 80 and 2,178 people are over 90 years old.
