More than 160 firefighters spent hours on a demanding fire-fighting mission on Thursday night: A major fire had broken out in a hall belonging to the Zellinger company in the town of Gerling. It was not the only operation on the waste management center site in recent days.
Fire alarm again
There was another fire alarm on Friday night: part of the pile of rubbish that had been removed from the hall during the fire-fighting operations caught fire again outside. Rapid intervention prevented the fire from spreading.

The first results from the expert from the fire prevention office for Upper Austria are now available. It is highly likely that the fire was caused by incorrectly disposed items in commercial waste – it could have been batteries, for example. External influences could be ruled out.
