Man injured in skiing accident – call for witnesses

A 43-year-old from Innviertel was out and about in the Dachstein-West ski area when the accident occurred at around 11.30 a.m. A ten-year-old boy was driving over the 43-year-old’s skis when the latter tried to overtake him. The man was able to hold on to his skis for a short time, but the ski bindings opened, he fell heavily and remained lying on the edge of the piste. He was seriously injured in the thigh and shoulder, the police said on Friday evening.

The injured’s relatives immediately provided first aid. The boy’s mother talked about the incident with the family, but then left the scene of the accident with her child without exchanging personal details. Several skiers noticed the accident and notified the piste rescue service at the valley station. This brought the man using Ski-Doo and transported him to the valley, where he was handed over to the Red Cross, who took him to the hospital.
